HERITAGE CAMP VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Without volunteers, Heritage Camp would not exist. We need both teen and adult volunteers. Please consider volunteering
some of your time this year or serving in a coordinating role next year. Job descriptions are listed below.
GENERAL VOLUNTEER POSITIONS NEEDED EACH YEAR
Classroom Leader/Teacher: This person is responsible for leading the
campers in daily activities at camp. This is a five day position with classroom planning required before the start
of camp. Curriculum materials, supplies and information are provided. Must be at least 18
years old.
Classroom Assistant: Involves leading children in pre-planned activities,
assisting classroom teacher and children every day at camp. May be adult or teen (10th grade and up).
Playground : Supervising
children and activities on the playground during the lunch hour. Time commitment is approximately one and half-hours from
10:45 to 12:30 and need not be every day.
Kitchen : This position includes food preparation,
set up and clean up for lunch. Time commitment is variable during week of camp. Prefer daily workers, but can flex if needed.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ethnic Sales Tables: Setting up and selling merchandise, taking money,
helping customers and packing up at end of camp. Time commitments are set up in two-hour blocks from 8:30 to 2:30 p.m. Extra
help is needed all day Monday for set-up and Friday for packing up. Must be at least 18
years old.
COORDINATOR POSITIONS NEEDED EACH YEAR
All new coordinators have assistance in learning and carrying out their tasks from experienced committee people.
Camp Co-Directors : 2 people to oversee
all committees, budget and FFIC liaison. Two-year time obligation through end of camp of second year. You will be working
with an experienced co-director and committee members.
Camp Coordinators : 1-3 people for each
heritage to oversee activities for various heritage sessions of camp. Coordinate teachers, aides, crafts and materials. Time
obligation before and during camp. Camps: Pre-school, China, Eastern European (and other former Soviet countries), Korean,
Latin American, and Teen.
Kitchen/Food: 1-3 people to buy food for camp and plan with a professional
cook. Time obligation before and during camp.
Registration : 1-2 people to record all
registration forms, lists and fees and to forward information to other committees.
Volunteers: 2 people to coordinate adult and
teen volunteers for playground, kitchen, teachers, aides and ethnic sales tables. Time obligation before and during camp.
Sales Tables:
1-2 people to call various organizations and individuals to secure ethnic items available for
sale at camp. Time obligation before and during camp.
Photos/Videos: 2-3 people to take class photos, distribute photos, and
collect videos to use during camp. Time obligation before and during camp.
Multi-Heritage
Games Coordinator: 1-2 people to organize
and coordinate 20-minute time periods of multi-cultural games for each of the grades Kindergarten through 5th.
VOLUNTEERS WITH TIME OBLIGATION BEFORE CAMP
Assemblies : 1-2 people to coordinate multi-heritage
assemblies for camp. Time obligation before camp.
T-Shirts: 1-2 people to purchase and distribute T-shirts and name tags.
Time obligation mostly before camp.
Public Relations : 1 person to communicate
camp information to the news media. Time obligation mostly before camp.
Grants : 1 person to apply for grants for
the following year. Grant writing experience helpful. Time obligation starting immediately after camp.
Supply Coordinator : 1-2 people to procure
all general supplies used by camp, in coordination with specific camp coordinators. Time obligation mostly before camp.
Playground Coordinator : 1-2 people to
coordinate all playground volunteers, plan activities for age appropriate groups, and arrange for equipment.
