TEEN CAMP is open to all ethnic groups for young people who will be entering
7th-9th grade in the coming fall. Campers will participate in a variety of mainly social activities, as we venture off
grounds each day. Examples of past activities include a day at Michigan's Adventure amusement park, Craig's Cruisers,
canoeing, going to a flea market, and an overnight camp-out at a lake cottage. Please note the registration fee for
this camp is $105. There may also be additional costs beyond the camp registration fee to cover activities. Thank
you to all the parents who helped coordinate, chaperone, host and drive to make Teen Camp fun!
Teen
Camp 2007: Teen Camp had a record 44 campers registered for the week. That was 10 more campers than 2006!
We had a great week at camp (including plenty of sunshine!). On Tuesday, the campers went Broomballing in Byron
Center, followed by a cookout at Douglas Walker Park. Our annual
trip to Michigan Adventures on Wednesday was awesome. The campers swam and rode rides throughout the day, followed by
a hot dog roast outside the park. We canoed down the Rogue River in Rockford
on Thursday. This was a new experience for many of the campers! We concluded Teen Camp on Friday morning
by playing BUNCO. The kids had a great time playing and winning some fun prizes! Many thanks to the parent volunteers
who graciously drove our campers around throughout the week: Jim and Jody Tuls, Cal and Lori Schutte, Carrie Soltysiak,
Pam Zietse, Randy and Kira Yoder, Rod Boerman, and Cindy Stowe. We couldn't have done Teen Camp without parent drivers.
Our thanks to June DeBoer and Rita Buck for coordinating Teen Camp for the past five years! The camp is already setup
with new parent volunteers for next summer, but they will need parent drivers for the week.
The campers and their families may be contacted by the camp coordinator
to discuss the format of this camp. Contact Kelly Olive, Teen Camp Coordinator, for more information.
