February 8, 2003:  ASIAN NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

Saturday, 10:00 a.m.

Registration begins at 10:00 a.m., followed by activities and an authentic Korean lunch.  Korean dancing, a clapping game, crafts, and story telling are just some of the events to take place.  Cost:  Ages 2 and under are free, ages 3 to 10 are $6.00, ages 11 to adult are $8.00 and there is a family rate of $32.00.  Contact Cheryl Wyma to pre-register at (616)774-0693.  Registration will be limited to 160 people, so don't delay!

March 15, 2003:  RUSSIAN BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
 
Saturday, 1:00-3:00 p.m.

All FFIC families, regardless of where your children were born, are invited
to come, celebrate and learn with us!  Join us for games, crafts, gifts and birthday cake and pie.  Come dressed in your best party clothes, just as they would in Eastern Europe, if you wish.  Admission is one wrapped Dollar Store gift for each of your children, which will be given to your child during the party.  Please label the gift with your child's name.  Please RSVP by March 10 with number of adults/children attending to Jodi Lewis.
 
Location:  Trinity Lutheran Church, 2700 East Fulton SE, Grand Rapids (1/2 mile west of East Beltline). 
 

 
May 3, 2003:  LIFEBOOK WORKSHOP
 
Saturday, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (8:30 a.m. registration)
 
Hands on workshop to create a life book for your adopted child.  The primary purpose of a life book is for your child to have access to the facts of his/her life before joining your family.  Be sure to bring documents, journals, pictures, etc. that relate to your child's life before adoption.  Contact Cindy Walter with questions or to register.  Reserve early, as space is limited!

The Chinese Culture Group of Greater Grand Rapids is holding its second annual panel discussion on the subject of adopting children from China.  Its goal is to furnish information and support to those who are thinking about adopting a child from China, those who have begun the adoption process and are waiting to travel, and those who are already raising children adopted from China

Free babysitting is provided for children 0-2 years of age, and free cultural activities will be provided for children 3 years and older.  There will also be free snacks and beverages for everyone.  The panel discussion will be followed by a pizza party for parents and children (suggested donation of $5.00 per family).

November 8, 2003:  F.F.I.C. INTERNATIONAL ADOPTION FAIR
 
Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
 
Adoption agency professionals, international adoption specialists and adoptive parents will share their ideas and information on such topics as raising trans-racial children, single parent adoptions, common post-institutional issues, the home study process, adopting older and other special needs children, affording adoption, choosing an agency, and resources for help and support.  Check here for more information and a detailed schedule of events.

Celebrate National Adoption Awareness Month with other families who have been touched by adoption.  Meet Kent County Family Court Judges who collectively have finalized thousands of adoptions.  Share your stories over light hor d'oeurves while your kids enjoy the children's activities.

December 13, 2003:  ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY

Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to Noon

Join us for a fun morning of Christmas crafts, a piņata, snacks, and a visit from Santa to pass out gifts to the children!  There is no charge for this event and families interested in F.F.I.C. who are not members are very welcome.  Please bring a small wrapped gift (under $5 please) for each of your children, which Santa will pass out individually.
