*February 9, 2002: KOREAN NEW YEAR CELEBRATION
9:30 a.m.
Celebrate the year of the horse! A variety of activities are planned including Tae Kwan Do, crafts, Sebae (the New
Year's formal bow of respect), singing, and Korean games. An authentic Korean meal will also be served for lunch.
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. Pre-registration begins January 15 by calling
Cheryl Wyma at (616)774-0693. Registrations will be accepted at the door, however, this event is limited to 160 people,
so pre-registration is encouraged.
Cost: Ages 2 and under--free, ages 3-10 $6.00, ages 11 and up $8.00 or family $32.00

February 27, 2002: INTERNATIONAL COOKING DEMONSTRATION

"Everyone Eats Dumplings!" Join us for a demonstration and hands-on cooking class featuring the dumplings of China,
Latin American and Eastern Europe. There is no charge for this event, but it is limited to the first 25 persons,

May 4, 2002: EASTERN EUROPEAN EASTER CELEBRATION
Saturday, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Please join us on the eve of the Orthodox Easter for a celebration of what is probably the most important Eastern European
religious holiday. We will explore some of the traditions of the Orthodox and Catholic churches through demonstrations,
crafts, story time, and sampling some of the traditional Easter foods. This is sure to be a great event for the whole
family.
Cost: Free to FFIC members and non-members, but you must RSVP by April 29, 2002 to Jodi Lewis.

WORKSHOP

Research indicates that there is a drop in the self-esteem of young
girls during the pre-teen years. What can be done to influence a girl's self-esteem, academic goals, sense of vision
and personal power? This workshop is presented by Susan McFarland from Life Enrichment Seminars and is based on 20 years
of experience facilitating support groups for women and teenage girls. Continental breakfast and free babysitting will
be provided. We ask that there not be babes in arms or children present during the workshop. There is no charge

workshop. Learn what you can do as an adoptive parent to: strengthen your family by understanding the seven core
