Bethany Christian Services and Sunshine Community Church are co-sponsoring a seminar with Sherrie Eldridge, author of "20 Things Adopted Kids Wished Their Adoptive Parents Knew" and "20 Life-Transforming Decisions Adoptees Need to Make."

February 5, 2006:  FFIC ICE SKATING PARTY
 
Sunday, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
 
Cost:  $4.00 per person, which includes admission, skate rental (if needed), pizza, pop and ice cream.  Crafts and activities will be provided for the non-skaters and for those who need a little break!  RSVP to Cheryl Wyma by January 30, 2006.

March 23, 2006:  FFIC PANEL DISCUSSION: TRAVELING TO YOUR CHILD'S COUNTRY OF BIRTH
 
Thursday, 7:00 p.m.
 
Last summer, several families from the Grand Rapids area visited Korea through the TIES program.  This program gives families the opportunity to travel in a supportive environment with other adoptive families.  A panel of FFIC members will be available on March 23 to answer questions about the trip and the TIES program.  The TIES program travels to Latin American and Eastern European countries as well as India and other areas of the world.

Saturday, 7:00 p.m.
 
Cost:  $8.00 per person (children 2 years and younger do not need a ticket) or $10.00 per person includes ticket, hot dog and soda.  Contact Carrie Soltysiak to make reservations.  Reservations and payment must be received by July 28.

*September 23, 2006:  AFSN "RECYCLE FOR ADOPTIVE FAMILIES" RUMMAGE SALE
 
Saturday.
 
Donations of clean usable clothing, housewares, furniture, toys, sporting goods, books, electronics, and small appliances will be accepted on Friday, September 22.  Volunteers are needed for set-up and on Friday and during the sale on Saturday.  Proceede will be used to support programming and services for adoptive families.  Contact AFSN for more information at www.afsn.org.

September 30, 2006:  FFIC FALL HAY RIDE
 
Saturday, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

October 7, 2006:  CHUSOK CELEBRATION—KOREAN THANKSGIVING
 
Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
 
In conjunction with the local Korean churches, we will be celebrating our 1st ever Chusok!  Chusok is the Korean Thanksgiving.  It is also called the Harvest Moon Festival, which is an event celebrated by many Asian cultures.  You and your family will have the opportunity to celebrate Chusok by participating in a wide variety of traditional Korean games, crafts, other entertainment and a WONDERFUL Korean meal.  You’ll also have the chance to meet and mingle with other local Korean families.  
 
Cost:  $8.00 age 11-adult, $6.00 age 3-10, free for ages 2 and under, family rate is $32.00.  Please RSVP by September 27 to Cheryl Wyma at with names and ages of those attending.

The one-mile walk begins at 10:30 with a picnic and games at the conclusion.  Registration and pledge forms are available at www.afsn.org.  Proceeds will be used to support programming and services for adoptive families.

Since November 2005, the Michigan Heart Gallery has been traveling around Michigan showcasing a few of the 300 children waiting for adoptive homes in Michigan. The Michigan Heart Gallery is a cooperative effort of the Adoptive Family Support Network and the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange with the support of Michigan Department of Human Servcies.  For more information, visit The Michigan Heart Gallery online at www.miheart.org.
